| 2000 NIRSA Championships - Day 2 |
April 6, 2000 - Coming in the tournament the Men's were ranked 28th and the Women's were ranked 34th. The Men's faced Central Michigan, Messiah, and 5th ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the first day of pool play. The Women's drew Virginia, Miami (OH), and Xavier in their pool. The Men's drew a crowd of Colorado Women's players to watch them play. The Men's played really well, but could not manage to take the pool. They gave Wisconsin-Eau Claire a run for their money as they took them to three hard fought games. This was truly an exciting match and was probably the main match of the day, as they drew a crowd during the heated game 2. It was a nail biter as Winsconsin-Eau Claire managed to slip away with a win at 31-29. They came out 3rd in their pool. That meant they would have to play the dreaded 9:00am Challenge Round. The Women's lost all three matches and was struggling all day. Their offense did not come alive as the sets were eratic. They were disappointed, but the best thing that came out of this was that they would not have to play until 6:30pm the next night. The Men's went to sleep early for the 9:00am match against North Carolina (UNC) the next day as curfew was set for midnight.
