April 3, 2000 - The NECVL Championships were held at the University of New Hampshire from April 1-2. The UConn Men's team entered the NECVL Championships ranked 3^rd. On Saturday, April 1^st, their first oppononent was Boston University (BU). The guys started out flat as BU demolished them in the first game. The second game was a much better showing from the team. They eventually lost 24-26. They regained their domination as they passed through Weslyan University in two straight games. Their next opponent was Eastern Nazarene College (ENC). This was their first meeting this season. All the hyped about the NECVL Eastern division domination with their third or fourth team was put to rest as ENC could not handle UConn in two straight sets. The guys finished early and had enough time to rest up for next day's single elimination format "A" Flight. One disappointment of the day was that they dropped in rankings to 5^th after coming out of pool play with a 2-1 record.

On Sunday, April 2^nd, the UConn Men's drawn the University of New Hampshire as their quaterfinal opponent. Both teams started out matching sideouts until the end of the match. It was a see-saw match. UConn eventually stepped it up and captured games one and two. Next they faced off against eventual Champion, Tufts University, in the semifinals. They started out slow and Tufts took advantage of the situation by defeating them in game one. UConn bounced back in game 2 in a very hard fought game. Eventually, Tufts proved their height and experience by claiming game 3.

Everyone played well and contributed at the NECVL Championships. Jay Mangual proved his domination in the middle as he was selected to the "A" Flight All Tournament team. It was a well deserved recognition from fellow teams, coaches, referees, and NECVL Board Members.

The UConn Men's is currently 21-4 overall. They look forward to the NIRSA Championships during April 5-8. They hope to receive a 1^st or 2^nd seed in the tournament pool play.
